Cactus Soil Mix

Why use a specialised cactus soil mix?

Cacti and succulents thrive in growing media that drains quickly while allowing plenty of air to reach the roots. Unlike standard potting mixes, a quality cactus potting soil contains mineral-rich ingredients that help prevent excess moisture retention, supporting stronger root systems and healthier plants.

Whether you're repotting a single succulent or building a larger collection, the right cactus soil mix provides the balance of drainage, structure and moisture control these plants require.

What's in our cactus potting mixes?

• Ready-to-use cactus potting soil for convenient planting.
• Mineral-rich blends featuring ingredients such as pumice, zeolite and perlite.
• Well-aerated mixes that encourage healthy root growth.
• Options suitable for cacti, succulents and many bonsai species.
• DIY components for growers who prefer to customise their own soil blends.

How to choose the right cactus potting mix

The best mix depends on your plants, pots and growing conditions.

• Indoor cacti and succulents: Choose a fast-draining cactus potting mix that helps prevent excess moisture around the roots.
• Bonsai: Select mineral-based blends that provide excellent drainage and long-term structure.
• DIY growers: Build your own mix using quality ingredients such as pumice, perlite and zeolite.
• Repotting collections: Ready-to-use blends offer a convenient solution for multiple plants.

Tips for growing healthy cacti and succulents

• Use pots with adequate drainage holes.
• Allow the growing medium to dry between watering where appropriate for your plant.
• Repot when plants become root-bound or the potting mix begins to break down.
• Pair quality soil with suitable fertilisers during the active growing season.
