What is Foliage Focus and which plants is it best for?

Foliage Focus is a one-part liquid fertiliser designed for lush, leafy growth. It’s ideal for indoor tropicals, ferns, palms, herbs, aroids like monstera and philodendron, and other foliage-first plants. You'll also hear it called "GT FOFO" in plant circles—same product.

Can I use Foliage Focus on flowering or variegated plants?

It’s best for foliage-focused plants. While you can use it on flowering plants, you’ll usually get better bloom results with a flower-focused feed. For variegated varieties, start at a lower dose—they can be more sensitive.

What’s in Foliage Focus and how strong is it?

It’s a gentle, balanced formula (2.2 – 0.4 – 2.2 NPK) with calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and essential trace elements. It’s urea-free, sodium-free, and chloride-free—great for regular use without harsh salt build-up.

Is Foliage Focus organic?

No—it’s a clean, mineral-based nutrient for precision feeding. Unlike fish or compost-based products, it’s odourless and shelf-stable, making it ideal for indoor growers who want consistency and ease.

Which bottle size should I choose?

The 1L bottle makes 200–330L of feed for soil, or 140–200L for hydro. The 5L option makes 5x that. If you're feeding often or have lots of plants, the 5L offers better value long term.

How do I use Foliage Focus in soil or hydro?

For soil, mix 3–5 mL per 1L of water. For hydro, LECA, or coco, use 5–7 mL per 1L. Feed at each watering, then flush once a month with plain water to keep roots happy.

How often should I feed and flush?

Use Foliage Focus at every watering for best results. Flush once a month with plain water to prevent salt build-up. If your plant is sensitive or your environment is dry, you can alternate with plain water occasionally.

Is it safe for baby plants or if I’m unsure about dosing?

Yes—just start light. Use ½ strength or less for seedlings, cuttings, or sensitive plants. Only increase the dose once your plant is actively growing and showing it can handle more.

How quickly will I see results?

Many plants show deeper green and new growth within 1–2 weeks, especially if previously underfed. Bigger leaves come from a combo of good light and steady nutrition—this supports both leaves and roots.

Can it cause salt build-up or burning?

If overused or never flushed, yes. Stick to the recommended dose, especially if your mix already has slow-release fertiliser. If you accidentally overfeed, flush thoroughly and reduce the dose.

Can I mix Foliage Focus with other products?

It already includes calcium, magnesium, and trace elements—so extra Cal-Mag is usually unnecessary. If you mix with silica, add silica to water first, then Foliage Focus. Avoid overstacking products to reduce burn risk.

Do I need to adjust pH or monitor EC?

Foliage Focus is buffered for use with most tap water. If you're in hydro, monitoring EC helps avoid overfeeding. For soil, it’s more forgiving, but check pH if your water is very hard or alkaline.

How should I manage it in LECA or semi-hydro?

Change the nutrient water every 1–2 weeks and keep the reservoir shaded to reduce algae. Clean the container and media as needed, especially in warm weather or if slime builds up.

Is it safe for herbs, pets, and kids?

Yes, herbs are listed as suitable. Just rinse edible leaves before eating. Like any fertiliser, keep it out of reach of pets and children, and don’t leave mixed nutrient water sitting out.

How should I store it, and how do I measure it?

Store sealed in a cool, dry place—no direct sun or heat. Shake before use. 1 teaspoon = ~5 mL; 1 capful = ~20 mL. Mix well into water (not straight onto soil), then apply evenly.
