Description

The Can-Filter® Can-Lite™ is a meticulously designed carbon filter crafted especially for spaces ranging from small to mid-sized. Its construction and features offer optimal air purification and ease of use. Here are its standout features:

  • High-Quality Carbon: The Can-Lite™ filter boasts 100% Australian granulated-carbon, a type known for its exceptional adsorptive properties. This ensures efficient removal of contaminants and odors from the air.

  • Durable Construction: The filter is fitted with an aluminum top and bottom, which not only lends to its durability but also ensures longevity.

  • Integrated Flange: The integrated flange simplifies the installation process and ensures a snug fit in various ventilation systems.

  • Open Perforation: A unique feature of the Can-Lite™ is its 51% open perforation. This design ensures maximum airflow and optimal contact with the carbon, leading to effective purification.

  • Variety of Sizes: To cater to diverse needs, the Can-Lite™ filter is available in 12 different sizes. This range can accommodate airflows (measured in Cubic Feet per Minute or CFM) from as low as 89 to as high as 3000.

  • Quality Assurance: Each Can-Lite™ filter is assembled with precision at a dedicated carbon filter plant located in Vancouver, Washington, USA. This ensures that each unit meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does the Can Lite Carbon Filter GT 1000 do?

It removes odours and VOCs from exhaust air using activated carbon, keeping your grow space discreet. It's designed for exhaust setups but can also scrub air internally. It does not remove humidity, fine particles, or heat.

What’s the difference between the 200mm and 250mm flange options?

Choose the flange size that matches your fan and ducting. 200mm fits standard setups; 250mm offers better airflow with less resistance if your system supports it. Avoid mismatched sizes unless necessary, as reducers can cause turbulence.

What’s the airflow rating of the Can Lite GT 1000?

It’s rated for up to 1000 m³/h (around 590 CFM). For best odour control, run just under max speed to increase contact time with the carbon bed.

Which fan type works best with the Can Lite GT 1000?

Use high-quality inline, EC, or centrifugal fans with good static pressure. EC fans are ideal since you can fine-tune airflow, improving odour control and lowering noise.

Where and how should I install the Can Lite GT 1000?

Mount it high (where heat and odours rise), either inside or outside the tent. Pulling air through the filter is most effective. Keep duct runs short, sealed, and smooth to reduce noise and resistance.

What are the filter’s size and weight?

The filter is 300mm in diameter, 500mm long, and weighs 11kg. Use strong straps and support if mounted horizontally—don’t let ducting bear the load.

What materials are used in the Can Lite GT 1000?

It features a 50mm bed of CKG 48 Australian activated carbon, steel housing, aluminium end caps, and an integrated flange with 51% perforation to improve airflow distribution.

Does it come with a pre-filter and do I need it?

Yes, it includes a pre-filter that traps dust and lint before it reaches the carbon. Skipping it shortens filter life. Clean it when visibly dusty or airflow drops. It can be washed and reused once fully dry.

How long does the Can Lite GT 1000 last?

Typical lifespan is 12–18 months, depending on humidity, dust, and airflow. High humidity shortens life. Keep pre-filter clean, avoid overdriving the fan, and reduce dust to extend performance.

Can I wash or refill the Can Lite GT 1000?

No. The carbon cannot be washed or recharged effectively at home. Once odour control drops and other issues are ruled out, it’s time to replace the filter.

What’s the max temperature and humidity it can handle?

It operates up to 80°C and 70% relative humidity. Above 70% RH, odour control may weaken and the carbon may saturate faster, especially after watering spikes.

Why does smell sometimes return even with the filter running?

Common causes include high humidity, leaks before the filter, excessive fan speed, or lack of negative pressure. Also check if the filter is nearing end-of-life.

What is negative pressure and how do I check for it?

Negative pressure means air is pulled into the grow space, forcing it to exit through your filter. In tents, inward-pulling walls while the fan runs is a good sign it's working.

Why does the tent smell when I open it?

That’s normal—opening releases unfiltered air. Carbon filters clean exhaust air but don’t prevent odour from escaping when the tent is unsealed.

Where are Can Lite Carbon Filters made?

They are assembled in a dedicated carbon filter facility in Vancouver, Washington (USA), using high-quality materials and consistent specs.
