Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the SigilVentus EC Fan Controller and how does it work?

The SigilVentus EC Fan Controller is a smart, temperature-based fan controller for compatible EC inline fans. It automatically adjusts fan speed based on your set temperature, helping maintain stable airflow, climate, and negative pressure without manual dialing.

Which fans are compatible with the SigilVentus EC Fan Controller?

It’s designed for SigilVentus EC fans using a 3.5mm jack and 0–10V control. Other EC fans may work if they match the same control signal and connector. It does not support AC fans or PWM-only models.

What modes does the controller offer?

It includes Auto Mode (adjusts speed based on temperature), Manual Mode (fixed speed), and Alarm Mode (alerts when temps exceed your limit). Most users set a target temperature and let Auto Mode handle the rest.

How many fans can I control at once?

You can connect up to 4 compatible EC fans. Intake and exhaust fans will follow the same speed settings, so matching models is best for consistent performance and easier troubleshooting.

Can this controller help reduce fan noise?

Yes. By running lower speeds during cooler periods and ramping only when needed, the controller can significantly reduce noise compared to running fans at full speed all day.

How many speed levels does the controller have?

The controller uses 6 stepped speed levels, offering better airflow control than basic on/off or high/low setups. Many growers set a low baseline and let the controller ramp up only when needed.

Does the SigilVentus EC Fan Controller come with a temperature probe?

Yes — it includes a 5-meter probe for temperature monitoring. Place it near canopy height, away from direct airflow or hot surfaces. Poor probe placement is a common cause of erratic fan behavior.

Can this help manage humidity and mould?

Indirectly, yes. By maintaining steady air exchange, the controller reduces humidity spikes and stagnant pockets — both key mould triggers. It's not a dehumidifier, but ventilation helps manage moisture levels.

Does it work well with carbon filters?

Yes. It’s commonly used with filtered setups. Keep in mind that filters add airflow resistance, so your fan may need to run at a higher speed to maintain your target temperature and pressure.

Why does the fan keep changing speed so often?

This is usually due to probe placement in turbulent airflow or a space with rapid temp swings. Try moving the probe to a more stable location and avoid placing it near exhausts, intakes, or lights.

Can it help maintain negative pressure in a grow tent?

Yes. Running a slightly stronger exhaust than intake and setting a minimum fan speed helps maintain negative pressure, which is key for odour control when using a carbon filter.

Does it replace clip fans or oscillating fans?

No — it controls inline/extraction fans, not internal circulation fans. You’ll still need clip or oscillating fans inside your grow space to maintain airflow across the canopy.

Why isn’t my airflow strong, even when the fan runs?

Check for blocked filters, crushed or overly long ducting, too many bends, or a weak intake. The controller can only optimize airflow based on what the physical setup allows.

What happens if the probe gets unplugged or damaged?

The controller will stop working correctly in Auto Mode, and may show errors or behave unpredictably. Make sure the probe is properly connected and undamaged for accurate readings.

Is the controller easy to install?

Yes. Just connect the probe, plug in your EC fan(s), choose a mode, and set your target temperature. The controller is powered through the fan — no separate adapter needed.
