Description
– Your Gardens Catch Of The Day – So Much More Than Just Seaweed! Zero smell unlike the competition, use inside with confidence!
NPK 0.1 - 0 - 1.36
Deep Sea Sugar + Kelp supplies your plants with highly beneficial & chelated micro and macro nutrients, whilst stimulating a strong hormonal response. This hormonal response, technically known as Systemic Acquired Resistance, is necessary to stimulate the plants defence mechanisms. The same defences are responsible for the plants resistance against pest & fungal attacks, as well as drought & frost conditions.
Stimulates extremely healthy root systems & feeds beneficial soil bacteria.
Excellent additive to flowering & fruiting plants, contains highly beneficial trace elements including zinc, silicon, calcium, magnesium & molybdenum.
Safe to use at all stages of plant growth. Perfect for seedlings & transplanting!
Helps break up tough soils & greatly enhance soil conditions by attracting earth worms and feeding beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae.
Store out of reach of pets & children in a dark, cool environment.
Do not apply to stressed or under watered plants. Do not apply when temperatures exceed 30C. Always test new products on plants before a complete switch.
FAQs
What exactly is Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp? A cold-processed liquid blend of kelp extract plus naturally-derived chitin. It feeds with trace nutrients and gently flicks on a plant’s own defence pathways (SAR). NPK: 0.1–0–1.36.
What does the chitin do for plants? Tiny chitin fragments act like a “training dummy” for plant immunity—priming resistance to pathogens and stress so plants bounce back faster and stay tougher. That priming is part of the SAR/ISR response.
Does Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp smell? Can I use it indoors? It’s very low odour compared to typical seaweed products, so it’s fine for indoor plants when mixed and applied as directed. Multiple customer reviews call this out too.
What’s in Ocean Grown - Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp—does it actually contain “sugar”? The formula is 100% hydrolysed kelp + chitin. Despite the name, there’s no sticky molasses listed—just the kelp + chitin biostimulant combo.
What plants is Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp good for? Pretty much everything: veggies, herbs, ornamentals, natives, fruit trees, lawns, seedlings—even cacti/succulents. It shines in flowering/fruiting phases thanks to the trace elements and hormone-like compounds in kelp.
How do I mix Ocean Grown - Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp?
Seedlings/propagation: 1–2 ml/L
Transplant shock: 3–5 ml/L
Foliar: ~2–5 ml/L
Indoor plants: ~3 ml/L
Lawns & fruit trees: 3–5 ml/L
Hydroponics: ~3 ml/L
Mix fresh each time; don’t store premix.
How often should I apply? Weekly light feeds suit seedlings/houseplants. For established plants: foliar every 1–2 weeks, or soil drench about monthly. That cadence lines up with seaweed best-practice in broader horticulture literature.
Foliar vs soil drench—what’s better? Both work. Foliar gives a quick “tonic” effect; drenches support roots and soil life. Many growers alternate. Spray to a fine glisten and avoid hot, direct sun.
Can I stack Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp with Fish Hydrolysate / Root Roids / Fruit Roids? Yes—plays nicely at normal rates and is even recommended with Fish Hydrolysate. If leaves go very dark or tips crisp, back off frequency or dose.
Is Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp compatible with hydroponic nutrients and reservoirs? Yes—rotate with your hydro base or supplement a slow-release base. Start modest and watch plant response; keep reservoirs clean as usual.
Is Ocean Grown - Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp certified organic? It’s formulated from organic inputs (kelp + chitin). If you need formal certification for a certified system, check your scheme’s allowed-inputs list.
Will Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp burn plants? Very unlikely at label rates (seaweed products are low-salt/low-NPK). Overapplication can be wasteful and, when stacking other inputs, may darken foliage or crisp tips—your cue to ease up.
Does Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp really help with stress, pests, and disease? Kelp extracts carry natural phytohormones (auxins/cytokinins/gibberellins) and trace elements; chitin acts as an elicitor. Together they improve root growth, nutrient uptake, and stress tolerance (heat/cold/drought/salinity) through SAR/ISR.
Is Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp safe for seedlings and transplants? Yes—this is one of its sweet spots. Use the lower rates for seedlings and the transplant rate on planting day.
Does Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp help flowering and fruiting? Yes—it’s listed as an excellent additive for flowering and fruiting plants, supporting fruit set/quality via hormone and trace-element support.
Will Ocean Grown - Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp change my soil pH? Seaweed inputs are generally near-neutral and buffered by organic matter; pH shifts are minimal at label rates.
Any tips for spraying? Use clean water, mix this product last, don’t store premixes, and aim for a fine mist. Avoid spraying in full sun or >30 °C. Indoors, spray with lights dimmed or just before lights-off.
Can I use Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp on natives? Yep—seaweed inputs are typically low-P and friendly to natives. As always, go lighter on phosphorus-sensitive species and watch the plant response.
Does Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp attract pests because of “sugar”? No—there’s no molasses listed. It’s kelp + chitin, low odour, and not sticky when mixed correctly.
Is Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp pet-safe once applied? Let sprays dry and keep pets away during application. Store the bottle out of reach. (Standard caution for all garden inputs.)
Can Ocean Grown - Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp replace my regular fertiliser? Treat it as a biostimulant/tonic, not your entire NPK program. Use it alongside a balanced fertiliser or living soil for heavy feeders.
What’s the NPK again? 0.1 – 0 – 1.36 (trace-rich; it’s about hormones/elicitors + micros, not bulk NPK).
Can Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp help with drought/heat/frost stress? Kelp extracts and chitin are widely reported to improve tolerance to abiotic stresses; that’s part of their value beyond NPK.
Is Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp okay for edible gardens? Yes—kelp/chitin biostimulants are commonly used on food crops worldwide. As with any foliar, avoid spraying right before harvest and rinse produce you’ve just sprayed. (General best-practice; check your certification scheme if relevant.)
Any storage/handling gotchas? Store in a cool, dark place; keep away from kids/pets. Don’t apply to under-watered or stressed plants, and avoid hot conditions (>30 °C).
I’ve got a shellfish allergy—anything I should know? Chitin/chitosan are commonly sourced from crustacean shells. If you have a severe allergy, wear gloves/avoid skin contact as a precaution (this is an ag input; don’t ingest).
Can I overdo foliar sprays? Yes—more isn’t always better. Stick to 1–2-weekly foliars or monthly drenches and watch plant feedback. This aligns with label guidance and broader seaweed-use advice.
What results should I expect, realistically? Faster rooting, perkier growth, better resilience, improved blossom/fruit set—but remember seaweed/chitin are biostimulants, not a substitute for base nutrition. Pair with a balanced feed/living soil for yield.
Can I use Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp as a seedling foliar under lights? Yes—use the low rate and spray when lights are dimmed or just before lights-off to avoid spotting/leaf stress.
Does Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp play well with lawns and trees? Yep—run 3–5 ml/L as a hose-end/knapsack application and repeat on a schedule your turf/trees respond to.
Why not just any “seaweed”—what’s special here? Cold-processed kelp keeps more bioactive compounds intact, and the chitin pairing adds an immune-priming angle you don’t get with plain seaweed. That combo is why growers see outsized effects vs NPK numbers.
Got a one-liner for when to use it? Use at low rates weekly for seedlings/houseplants, 1–2-weekly as foliar on established plants, or monthly as a soil drench—especially around transplants, early flowering, heat/cold snaps, or general “perk-up” moments.
I used this for my indoor plants as well as foliar spray.
Less smells compared to to other brands.

Deep Sea Sugar & Kelp
I love this stuff aswell as my plants. Although the power form lasted me so much longer & was alot more handier but still same stuff & same great result's 5 star.
A cold-processed liquid blend of kelp extract plus naturally derived chitin. It feeds with trace nutrients and gently switches on the plant’s own defence responses to stress, pests, and disease. NPK: 0.1–0–1.36.
Tiny chitin fragments are “recognized” by plants and help prime their immune pathways. The result is better resilience against pathogens and environmental stress, along with stronger overall vigor.
It’s very low odour and fine for indoor use when mixed and applied as directed.
Pretty much everything—veggies, herbs, ornamentals, natives, fruit trees, lawns, seedlings, and even cacti/succulents.
Mix fresh each time.
Seedlings / propagation: 1 ml/L, once weekly
Transplant shock: 5–10 ml/L once at planting
Foliar feed (most plants): 2–5 ml/L, spray to a fine glisten (avoid full sun)
Soil drench / general feed: Start at the lower end of the label range and adjust to plant response
Weekly light feeds suit seedlings and houseplants. For established plants, do a foliar every 1–2 weeks or a soil drench about monthly. If you’re stacking other products, you can apply together or space them a few days apart.
Both work. Foliar gives a quick “tonic” effect; soil drenches support roots and soil life. Many growers alternate.

No. Agricultural input only—do not ingest. Not for human or animal consumption.
Let sprays dry and keep pets away during application. Store the bottle out of reach.
Avoid contact with eyes/skin and do not ingest. Wash hands after use. Store sealed, cool, and out of direct sunlight.
Probably. Reduce the rate and/or increase the gap between applications, then ramp back up slowly.
Low odour and low colour, but rinse gear after use to prevent residue.
Store sealed, out of heat and sun. Use within the season for best results. Shake well if it’s been sitting.

Have been using a high grade potting mix plants have not been happy slow growth and just not looking healthy. So I took them out of pots removed about a third of the old dirt from the bottom and anything that fell off the top and sides cleaned out the pot put turbo dirt in the bottom put a scoop of roids on the bottom and a tad more turbo dirt over it and sprinkled some transplant powder on the soil at about a third of the way up refilling with turbo dirt and then sprinkled another scope of root roids and some powder down the sides topped up with turbo dirt and a slight top dress and just before the top dress another scope of root roids and then covered with about 20 mm more turbo 2 lts of water. I could see a difference in 2 days could see a darker green coming up through the leaves in a week they where no longer sick and now 2 weeks later it’s like a different garden I can see daily grow. Can’t believe how much difference turbo dirt made thanks for your help.
Thanks Wayne! That’s an absolute ripper of a review—stoked to hear the garden’s loving the Turbo Dirt and Root Roids. Sounds like you’ve given those plants the royal treatment, mate!
