Description

The Can-Filter® Can-Lite™ is a meticulously designed carbon filter crafted especially for spaces ranging from small to mid-sized. Its construction and features offer optimal air purification and ease of use. Here are its standout features:

  • High-Quality Carbon: The Can-Lite™ filter boasts 100% Australian granulated-carbon, a type known for its exceptional adsorptive properties. This ensures efficient removal of contaminants and odors from the air.

  • Durable Construction: The filter is fitted with an aluminum top and bottom, which not only lends to its durability but also ensures longevity.

  • Integrated Flange: The integrated flange simplifies the installation process and ensures a snug fit in various ventilation systems.

  • Open Perforation: A unique feature of the Can-Lite™ is its 51% open perforation. This design ensures maximum airflow and optimal contact with the carbon, leading to effective purification.

  • Variety of Sizes: To cater to diverse needs, the Can-Lite™ filter is available in 12 different sizes. This range can accommodate airflows (measured in Cubic Feet per Minute or CFM) from as low as 89 to as high as 3000.

  • Quality Assurance: Each Can-Lite™ filter is assembled with precision at a dedicated carbon filter plant located in Vancouver, Washington, USA. This ensures that each unit meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does the Can Lite Carbon Filter GT 600 (150mm Flange) actually do?

It removes odours and VOCs from your grow room's exhaust air using activated carbon. It’s designed for exhaust setups but can also recirculate air internally. Note: it doesn’t remove humidity, mould spores, or fine particles—its job is odour control.

What size is the Can Lite GT 600 and will it fit in my grow tent?

It has a 150mm flange, 200mm outer diameter, is 475mm long, and weighs 4kg. It fits most mid-size tents. Mounting it inside or outside the tent is fine—just ensure space for the fan and sealed ducting.

What type of fan works best with the Can Lite GT 600?

A quality 150mm centrifugal or EC fan with strong static pressure is ideal. Use a speed controller to fine-tune airflow—running just under max (600 m³/h) usually gives better odour control and quieter operation.

How should I install the Can Lite GT 600 for best results?

Mount it high in the tent with the fan pulling air through it (filter → fan → duct). Keep ducting short and straight, seal all joins, and avoid reducers or sharp bends to prevent leaks, noise, and airflow loss.

What carbon and materials are used in the Can Lite GT 600?

It uses 35mm of CKG 48 Australian activated carbon, housed in steel. A pre-filter is included to trap dust before it reaches the carbon, helping maintain airflow and extend filter life.

Do I really need the pre-filter, and how do I clean it?

Yes—skipping the pre-filter clogs the carbon faster. Clean it when visibly dusty or if airflow drops. It can be gently washed and must be completely dry before reusing.

How long does the Can Lite GT 600 last?

Most users see 12–18 months depending on odour load, humidity, and dust. High humidity shortens lifespan. Store unused filters sealed in a cool, dry place to prevent early saturation.

Why does the filter seem less effective over time?

If odours return, common causes include high humidity, airflow that’s too fast, negative pressure issues, or a worn-out filter. Check for leaks and ensure airflow is within spec. Filters can't be recharged or washed.

What’s “negative pressure” and why does it matter?

Negative pressure means the grow space slightly sucks in, so air exits through the filter. Without it, unfiltered air can leak out. Tent walls pulling inward while the fan runs is a good sign you have it.

Why does smell return after watering or when I open the tent?

Watering often spikes humidity, which reduces the carbon’s odour-trapping ability. Opening the tent releases unfiltered air—that’s normal. The filter controls smells while the tent is sealed.

Can I run the Can Lite GT 600 all the time?

Yes. Many growers run it 24/7 for consistent odour control. Just be aware that constant use can saturate the carbon sooner, especially in dusty or humid environments.

Does the Can Lite GT 600 reduce fan noise?

Not directly. Most noise comes from airflow, duct turbulence, and vibrations. A silencer or speed controller helps more than the filter itself. Whistling usually means airflow restrictions or leaks.
