Description

The Can-Filter® Can-Lite™ is a meticulously designed carbon filter crafted especially for spaces ranging from small to mid-sized. Its construction and features offer optimal air purification and ease of use. Here are its standout features:

  • High-Quality Carbon: The Can-Lite™ filter boasts 100% Australian granulated-carbon, a type known for its exceptional adsorptive properties. This ensures efficient removal of contaminants and odors from the air.

  • Durable Construction: The filter is fitted with an aluminum top and bottom, which not only lends to its durability but also ensures longevity.

  • Integrated Flange: The integrated flange simplifies the installation process and ensures a snug fit in various ventilation systems.

  • Open Perforation: A unique feature of the Can-Lite™ is its 51% open perforation. This design ensures maximum airflow and optimal contact with the carbon, leading to effective purification.

  • Variety of Sizes: To cater to diverse needs, the Can-Lite™ filter is available in 12 different sizes. This range can accommodate airflows (measured in Cubic Feet per Minute or CFM) from as low as 89 to as high as 3000.

  • Quality Assurance: Each Can-Lite™ filter is assembled with precision at a dedicated carbon filter plant located in Vancouver, Washington, USA. This ensures that each unit meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does the Can Lite Carbon Filter GT 300 (125mm Flange) do?

It removes odours and VOCs from your grow tent or room by filtering exhaust air through activated carbon. You can also use it as a recirculating scrubber inside the room, but it won’t reduce humidity or heat unless vented outside.

What fan and ducting size works best with this filter?

Use a 125mm inline fan and 125mm ducting for the best results. You can use a reducer to connect to 100mm, but it adds airflow resistance and may reduce odour control efficiency.

What airflow is the Can Lite GT 300 rated for?

It’s rated up to 300 m³/h (roughly 175–180 CFM). For better smell control and longer carbon life, most users run slightly under max airflow.

What type of fan should I use?

A quality 125mm inline, mixed-flow, or centrifugal fan is ideal. EC fans work great for fine-tuning airflow, and a speed controller can help balance noise and performance.

Is the Can Lite GT 300 suitable for small tents?

Yes—it’s compact and lightweight (about 1.8kg), making it perfect for small to mid-size tents. It’s easy to hang and doesn’t put strain on tent poles.

What kind of carbon does it use?

It uses 100% Australian CKG 48 activated carbon with a 25mm bed. That thickness is effective for small grow spaces if airflow, sealing, and humidity are properly managed.

Does it come with a pre-filter?

Yes. The included pre-filter catches dust and debris before it reaches the carbon. Use it always, clean it when dusty, and wash gently if needed—just make sure it’s dry before reinstalling.

Can I mount the filter horizontally?

Yes—as long as the filter is fully supported and ducting doesn’t pull down on the flange. Mount it high in the tent since heat and odours rise, and keep duct runs short and smooth.

How should I install it for best results?

Most setups pull air through the filter (filter → fan → duct). Use proper clamps and foil HVAC tape to seal all joins. It’s a fixed 125mm flange unit—some versions offer twist-off flanges, but not all.

Does humidity affect performance?

Yes. The filter is rated up to 70% relative humidity. Above that, odour control may weaken, and the carbon can saturate faster. Watering often spikes humidity, which can temporarily reduce effectiveness.

Why can I still smell odour with the filter installed?

Check for leaks, high fan speed, or lack of negative pressure (tent walls should pull inward slightly). Also rule out high humidity or a worn filter. Odour when opening the tent is normal—it’s unfiltered air inside.

How long does the Can Lite GT 300 last?

In good conditions, many users get a year or more. Humid or dusty environments shorten lifespan. Signs it's wearing out: odour returns, airflow drops, or you need higher fan speed to maintain control.

Can I refill or clean the carbon inside?

No. The carbon isn’t reusable or washable. To extend filter life, keep humidity low, clean the pre-filter regularly, avoid running full-speed 24/7, and seal your system well to avoid bypass leaks.

Can it help with drying smells or mould spores?

It’s great for drying odours if humidity is controlled. The pre-filter catches some dust/lint, but it’s not HEPA-rated and won’t filter mould spores or fine particles.

What are the specs and how should I store it?

Specs: 125mm flange, 145mm diameter, 450mm length, 1.8kg, 25mm carbon bed, 300 m³/h max airflow, plastic housing, CKG 48 carbon, max 80°C, max 70% RH. Store sealed, dry, and cool to protect the carbon.
