HOW BOVEDA WORKS FOR HERBAL MEDICINE

Scientifically engineered to maintain a precise relative humidity in an enclosed space, and available in multiple RH levels.

Boveda will never humidify beyond the RH on the pack, so there’s no such thing as “too much”. You want to think in terms of using at least the minimum because the more you use, the more efficient Boveda works and the longer they last. You’ll know it’s time to replace when the entire Boveda begins turning hard.

Simply place the correct number of Boveda inside your container to maintain a precise relative humidity. Each Boveda consists of a specially prepared saturated solution of pure water and natural salt. This saturated solution is contained within a water-vapor permeable “reverse osmosis” membrane. Within a closed container Boveda maintains a predetermined level of (RH) by releasing or absorbing purified water-vapor, as needed, through the membrane.

Boveda provides the cleanest and most purified humidity of all other products available on the market today.

Note: Do not mix Boveda RH levels within the same container, and do not use Boveda in the same container with other humidification products. They will fight against each other and reduce the efficiency of the Boveda."

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Boveda 8g 62% RH and how does it work?

Boveda 8g 62% RH is a two-way humidity control pack that adds or absorbs moisture to maintain 62% relative humidity. It helps protect herbs, cigars, and other moisture-sensitive items from drying out or becoming too damp. Unlike silica gel, it stabilizes—not just removes—humidity.

What can I use Boveda 8g 62% RH for?

It’s ideal for dried herbs, flowers, cigars, tobacco, tea, and spices stored in sealed containers. It supports curing and storage, helping preserve aroma, texture, and weight by maintaining stable conditions.

How much material can one Boveda 8g 62% RH pack handle?

Each pack typically supports 14–28g of material in an airtight container. You can use multiple packs for better stability. Boveda won’t exceed its target RH, so using extra is safe—it just adds cost.

How do I use Boveda 8g 62% RH correctly?

Remove the plastic wrap, place the pack inside your sealed container, and close it. No activation is needed. It can touch contents, but avoid pressing it into sticky or wet material for best results.

How long does Boveda 8g 62% RH take to stabilize a container?

Most setups stabilize in 24–48 hours. For best results, use an airtight container, avoid frequent opening, and store in a cool, stable location.

Can Boveda 8g 62% RH rehydrate dry herbs or reduce moisture?

Yes, it can gently rehydrate overly dry contents. It can also pull down slight excess moisture. But it won’t fix improperly dried or wet material—those should be air-dried first to avoid mould risk.

Does Boveda 8g 62% RH prevent or fix mould?

It reduces mould risk by stabilizing humidity, but it won’t fix mouldy contents. Always start with clean containers and properly dried material.

How long does Boveda 8g 62% RH last?

In ideal conditions, packs last 2–6 months. When the pack feels stiff and crunchy instead of soft, it’s time to replace it. Avoid recharging—it can ruin precision and consistency.

Why isn’t Boveda 8g 62% RH working in my jar?

Common issues include poor seals, frequent opening, packs that are too small or already spent. A stable RH between 60–63% is normal. Use a hygrometer if you want to monitor conditions more closely.

Should I use a hygrometer with Boveda 8g 62% RH?

It’s optional but helpful, especially in larger containers or if you're troubleshooting. Hygrometers may vary slightly, so readings between 60–63% are typically acceptable with a 62% pack.

Can I use Boveda 8g 62% RH in a zip-lock bag?

It can help a little, but zip-locks often leak. For best results, use a truly airtight container like a mason jar or sealed tub to maintain consistent humidity.

What’s the best type of container for Boveda 8g 62% RH?

Airtight containers with strong seals work best. Avoid leaky jars or bags—humidity control relies on keeping external air out. Improper storage is the most common mistake.

Can I mix Boveda 8g 62% RH with other RH levels or humidifiers?

No—don’t mix different RH packs or add other humidifiers. Doing so causes them to work against each other and results in inconsistent humidity control.

What’s the difference between Boveda and Integra packs?

Both offer two-way humidity control. Boveda uses a “feel test” to indicate when to replace, while Integra often includes a visual indicator card. Choose based on your preference for monitoring.

What’s inside Boveda 8g 62% RH, and is it safe?

It contains a food-safe saturated salt solution inside a leak-resistant membrane. It’s safe for enclosed storage use. Just don’t cut or ingest it—if punctured, discard the pack and clean the container.
