Description

Cow – Chicken – Mushroom – Insect Frass – Rock Minerals

Our new compost blend has been designed to help gardeners build premium potting soils add back valuable nutrients to existing garden beds!

We’ve sourced the highest quality components, removed all the unwanted clumps, & blended in our in-house Rock Mineral Blend consisting of over 25 trace elements.

Nutrient-dense Cow & Chicken manure, along with our unique blend of mushroom compost (consisting of both traditional & hardwood grown varieties), make up the base of this blend. We then fortify the mix with 100% organic Insect Frass & Rock Minerals for strong, healthy growth.

This mix contains on average 300,000 active colony-forming units of beneficial soil microbes per gram of compost. If you notice any white, microbial growth inside the bag - it's the good stuff!

How to use

Mix in 15-25% by volume into new potting mixes.

For existing potted plants, add 1cm of 4in1 to the soil surface and water in immediately. Reapply monthly.

Please note, this is a living biological product. You will from time to time, find worms, worm eggs, and the occasional benign "creepy crawly" in this blend.

Frequently Asked Questions

A living mix of cow manure, chicken manure, mushroom compost, insect frass, and a rock mineral blend with 25+ trace elements.

The “4” = four composts (cow, chicken, mushroom, frass). The “+1” = the rock minerals added for trace nutrition.

Common sizes include 8 L and 27 L. Check the product page for current pricing and stock.

Yes—pickup from Bellambi, NSW. Orders are usually ready within 24 hours.

Yep. It’s alive by design. You may spot worms, worm eggs, white fungal threads (mycelium), or harmless crawlies. That’s normal and a good sign.

Blend 15–25% by volume into your potting mix. Example: for 40 L of mix, add 6–10 L of 4+1.

Add about 1 cm of 4+1 across the surface and water in immediately. Reapply monthly.

Yes—start with a light top-dress and water in. If you’re unsure on rates for your soil, test a small section first and observe.

Anytime: bed prep, at planting, and as a monthly top-dress. It feeds slowly and boosts biology across all stages.

Go gentle. Mix it into your base potting mix rather than planting ultra-young seedlings straight into a heavy layer of compost.

Supercharges microbial activity, adds slow-release nutrition, supplies 25+ trace elements, and improves moisture retention and soil structure.

The insect frass brings chitin, which can help prime plants’ natural defence responses. Think resilience, not a pesticide.

It’s a gentle, slow-release amendment, but you can overdo any input. Follow the rates and avoid packing raw compost tightly against delicate roots.

Keep sealed, dry, and out of direct sun. Because it’s alive, avoid extreme heat and heavy moisture.

Mostly an earthy, composty note—nothing harsh.

Yes—family- and pet-friendly when used as directed. Avoid creating dust and wash hands after handling.

That’s beneficial microbial growth (mycelium). It’s part of the living biology you want.

Nope. That’s normal in a living compost blend.

Common causes: too much compost piled on roots, over-watering, pH drift, poor drainage, or a deficiency your compost alone didn’t solve. Lightly loosen the top layer, improve drainage, and check moisture/pH.

Any moist organic mix can, especially if over-watered. Let the top few centimetres dry between waterings, use a thin mineral top-dress or mulch, and pop in sticky traps if needed.

It’s a complete, living amendment: multiple composts for biology + rock minerals for trace nutrition. More than “bulk”—it’s designed to elevate potting mixes.

You can, but scale salts back to avoid over-feeding. Many growers find they can reduce synthetics when running a living-soil approach.

Best in soil and soil-based mixes. In pure coco or hydro, particulates can clog lines and release can be inconsistent—use with care or stick to liquids in reservoirs.
